Way too hot here, horrid day at school again, but this evening we went to give the horses some ice lollies. Sky turned her nose up (literally  ) but the others were very keen.....

Re: The new girl

She was a bit better on Monday, we went in the school (big mistake, it was stifling!!) for a quick 10 minutes, and the only dancing around this time was I think due to horseflies, she put in some fancy moves, but there wasn't the same "I can't" body language to accompany them..... This is ...

Re: Sunday Somethings

We were too hot yesterday coaching archery at Barton End, but the boys took us to the pub to cool off afterwards  :sun: :drink:

Rode at 8 this morning to beat the heat, currently hiding indoors making fancy dress costumes

Re: Coral

Her first hack first thing this morning before it got to hot. She was a total star  Bit hesitant at first but she was soon heading out in front :-D https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4212/34538628544_5223a40581.jpg WP_20170618_08_46_18_Rich (3) by Helen Barnes , on Flickr https://c1.staticflickr...

Re: The new girl

Does it on the flat too, don't worry, we've tried a lot of different places. On today's hack she decided to have a hissy fit on the road  :buck:

I think this is her equivalent of Kinna's Tigger bouncing

Re: Acceptable pressure?

She is very good at zoning out her rider/handler. With the groundwork I've been doing sometimes I've had to do the raising my energy/slapping my leg thing to get her attention if she ignores the more subtle type of cues we give ours. Did a bit with the clicker this morning and that seemed to get her...

Re: The new girl

So we have sold a couple of treed saddles and purchased a second hand Barefoot saddle and it seems fine. We've been doing little bits of ridden stuff in the field - or trying to- but the problem is she really doesn't like it if Ali or I ride!! Pretty sure it's not the saddle or her back (she has reg...

Re: Tiky de la Couture journey

Sounds very familiar, M-E! Tari doesn't seem to think she needs to be doing any work at all and I have the same problem re. working for a living  If I had the time to reinforce the message that no, bucking and squealing will not get you your own way, she'd be fine  Still, last hack ...
